'Twas the night before Christmas, and as always in our house That Wizard was working, clicking that darn mouse;
The monitors were hung with no space to spare, In hopes of a deal he would be the first to share.
The children were worried all waiting in their beds, For they knew Santa was waiting for dad to head off to bed;
With Mom in the doorway with our dog in her arm, Wondering how he ever earned a release from that farm,
When out of the sky there came a loud bang, It must be Santa with the whole reindeer gang.
I must keep the wizard in the room looking for deals, away from the Christmas tree and Santa, oh please
I logged on FB to make a post, one that would be quite different. I would divert his attention with a coupon, one worth much more than most
This one will work, A coupon, yes a coupon for FREE, once he found this one, nothing else would he see.
That Wizard found that coupon, one that not often did he see, He posted and posted for all to see.
With the Wizard now busy it was time for me to see, to see the tricks my mother had planned for me.
I Knew there was no Santa, it was only a trick, yes a trick to fool my brother and me.
I crawled quietly down the hall to hide behind the couch a place that I could safely hide and still see it all.
Oh but to my surprise, it was not my mother I seen. It was Santa, and not the one collecting money at Walgreens.
He filled the stockings with candy for me, and coal for my brother. I guess he didn’t get the letter explaining that “D”
In no time at all Santa was done, He ate his cookie and drank his milk, then winked at me as he wiggled his nose and poof he was gone.
A jingle I heard from the roof above as Santa headed off with "Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night."
Not sure of what I had seen, I headed back to bed only to relive it over and over again in my dreams.
It was 2:00 when the wizard finished, he came to our rooms, tucking us in, with a hug and a kiss and a very special wish, a wish for a Merry Christmas.
It was 4:00 when what did I hear, “Get up Santa has been here” it was my brother excited that this morning has arrived the morning he has waited for all year.
With a plan in tow we headed for my mothers bed, we would Roll and kick and moan and groan until they got up and to the Christmas tree we did head.
As I opened those presents that Santa left for me, It was that jolly old man from the night before that I did see.
With his hair so white and cheeks red from the cold. He delivered the joy of the morning to every boy and girl not a one to old.
Yes it was much more than the toys he brought, it was the joy of giving, the joy of family the joy of the season he taught.
It was then I learned that Christmas was much more than presents under the tree. For me this Christmas was special, it gave me the reason to believe.
Well the presents were all opened with the paper all about it was then I thought, how is it that this man so kind, my mother he had forgotten all about.
It was then we spotted a gift under the tree, one it seems to had fallen from high on the tree.
No doubt from the wizard it was plain to see, a hallmark card, one he had gotten for free.
It was the last to be opened, the last of the day, one for my mother, my brother and me.
Though it was simple it was well though out. a gift that informed us what this season was about.
It was a coupon from the wizard, A COUPON WE THOUGHT!
My mother just giggled and with her smile so bright, she said it is a coupon, a coupon, just right A coupon for the love in his heart, FREE
