These days there will be some that may need to think about that question, Not me, not now and not ever. I have a lot to be thankful for, being alive to push forward through these hard times, my wife, kids and the rest of my family and friends. Even though those reasons are a given they are very important to all of us at all times and not only during the Holiday season. Once past those basic things what can be be thankful for at a time when unemployment is at or near 10%, for those working our wages are not only shrinking but they also will not buy what they did just a few years ago. Our houses have lost a lot of their value. No one is sure if there will be Social Security when we retire if we even get to retire. We are all worried about what our children have instore for them as they grow older to join the work force if they are able to find a job. Is the cost of collage going to be affordable for any of us or is it going to be worth the debt you go into to get that degree? All of these are troubling questions because most of us grew up in times that the economy was growing, there was a job if you wanted to work and the country we lived in was the strongest, richest and most envied country in the world. We seen things like the first man on the moon, the fall of dictatorships that kept their people in poverty or in prison if they did not like poverty. All because of us the United States and our freedoms and our noble quest to spread those freedoms through out the world.

As I sit here wondering how I might make it through the next year a lot of things come to mind, the first and often reoccurring one is that we are still the greatest country on the face of this earth and if we set our minds to something there is nothing we cant do. This sounds as if it applies to our country and was worded to imply that but it applies to us all. As a young man in School I was a little guy not tall not muscular, just average but when I decided to try to compete with others running long distance and having a hard time doing it my coach told me something that many have heard but I took it to heart and still believe it to this day. It is what was said in the first sentence of this paragraph. There is nothing that I can not accomplish if I set my mind to it. Well I became a very good long distance runner, not the best but good enough to be proud of what I had accomplished. Well its time for all of us to set our minds to getting things working again. This country is and always has been about the people, you and me. As we all have seen in the latest election we have the power to change things and we will.

So lets mention a few of the positive things in the world that I am thankful for this season. I also would love to hear your thoughts and reasons for being thankful.

, We now have a balanced government, one party does not and can not rule with out regard of what it does to you or me or what we may think of it.

, We have millions of proud and Brave men and women that volunteer to defend our freedoms to the death. God bless them all and their families.

, I have a job,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, for now.

, The opportunity to help people with my money saving ideas and donations.

, The people I have met, even if on line only. They all make me a more complete person in their own special way. It may be just understanding another way of live or the smile they bring to my face from time to time, all are important to me and I thank you all for it.

, The hope that we may be on the way out of this depression, recession or what ever they may call it, it still sucks.

, A Walgreens on every corner where I live.

, Coupons!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and a lot of them.

, A sense of humor, or a sick mind. either or both works for me.

, The World Wide Web to channel my weirdness to, with out it my wife would have put me away a long time ago. With it I can inflict my own brand of sickness on thousands of others.

, The Tea Party for reminding us what principles our country was found on.

, The Democrats and Republicans for showing us all what happens when people get to much power over others.

, Free Elections for us regular people to voice our opinions at.

, A keyboard because if I had to write all of this not a one of you would be able to read it including me.

, Spell checker because it leaves something out there that I have not yet done. Smile

, Music, most of you may not know that I sit here nightly with headphones on with the music cranked playing a ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,lets say a well rounded selection of music like, Frank Zappa, Beatles, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Yes, Jeftro (flashback to the Beverly Hillbillies) Tull, America, David Allen Coe, Merle Haggard, Ray Price, Pink Floyd and on and on. I have well over 72 hours of music on one of my PCs and randomly play every thing on it. That selection I’m sure explains a lot.

, And Finally, Grandchildren I at one time thought that nothing could top being with and raising my own children until there was grandchildren. I have always be a joker and I regress to the kids maturity level when with them. I have names for almost every one of them like, Pooh, Da Breeze, Mad Dog, Mel, Bubba (one of the most beautiful young ladies on the face of the earth, just like my other granddaughters) and more, Even my own kids had name like Daddy’s Sweetheart (my first) and “Hey you what ever your name is” I called my identical twins that, both of them. I love them all and life would not be as great as it is with out them.

God Bless all of you, yours, mine and our military families and country. Have a very happy Thanksgiving.
