The "W" Card

I wanted to bring your attention to the new Walgreens W Card. You can purchase this in the pharmacy for one person for $20 / year.

Walgreens advertises this as a discount card for prescriptions. however, for people using coupons it has a far better value.

When you use this card for Walgreens products you receive 10% back as a credit on your W Card.

You sign up for this card in the pharmacy and will receive a temp card, your real card will take a few weeks to arrive. You must wait for this card to submit for credits online.

When you receive the real card you may use it in the store. Anytime you are using your card in the store wait till all your products are scanned, used your coupons, and when you have your total scan your W Card in the debit / Credit terminal, this will tell your Card what products you are purchasing and calculate your credit. then the cashier will tell you your total again. Pay like normal and the transaction is over.
your receipt will be an itemized list line by line telling you of the qualifying transactions and amount of credit. and give you your updated W Card balance.

If you are on Medicare Walgreens will not sell you the W Card.

When you want to use the balance on your card to pay for something you do the same thing. Have all items rung up and slide your W card first before any other payment method. Any balance on the card will apply to the total and you will pay the difference if there is one. If you have a transaction where you are both buying store brand items and you want to use the credit on your W card to buy them you can do that to. Just slide the card as your first method of payment and then pay any balance. At the bottom of the receipt it will show you your previous balance, how much was used to pay during that transaction, and how much new credit you earned. You cannot use credit earned in one transaction to help pay for that same transaction. It must be used for a following purchase.

If you didn't use your card at the register in the Debit/Credit Terminal because you A) forgot or B) did not want to use your current points yet, do not worry you can do it online. go to https://webapp.walgreens.com/MYWCARDWeb/...SavingsRH?
on the left side it will say "Manage my Account". If not already registered online do so at this time. on the left hand side again it will say "Add Receipt to Card" Click that
You will then be prompted to enter the RFN # from the receipt, it will then show you a summary of that receipt you will click the blue button in the middle that says "Add to Card" Choose your W Card number, press the continue button, now press the button to confirm. it will then update your balance, If you have more receipts, repeat the steps. you have to wait at least 48 hours to enter a receipt. So if you are doing this method, try not to forget you must wait 2 days.

Now your sitting here thinking, well I do not buy that many Walgreens Items so $20 a year is going to cost me more than I will save. Well here is the best part. You get 10% for buying WALGREENS GIFT CARDS.

So immediately when you walk in Walgreens buy a Walgreens Gift Card using your W Card then make your purchases in Walgreens with your Gift Card.

Think about it how many times have we bought pocket tissues, and wags tp and many others. Now you will be able to save even more at WAGS. Let the store start paying you more on the money you are already using! Not only that but it will also help you keep track on monies spent.
