Mailman RE: Meijer Coupon Policy
Today is the first time I have ever had it that a cashier wouldn't accept my coupons for a b1 g1 free item. I had a raincheck for the infusium. The cashier was new and someone was helping her. The helper insisted that I couldn't use a coupon on the free item. I told her I have done it before and she called someone over who said I couldn't use it and it would be coupon fraud. This isn't coupon fraud is it? I know I have done it with Aunt Millies by one get two free. Meijer coupon policy isn't specific enough. I know i can do this at Rite Aid so who is correct? I plan on going to the service desk the next time I am at Meijer and ask them specifically. I don't need the shampoo and conditioner that bad so if they don't want my coupons I will return it.:Angry

RE: Meijer Coupon Policy
This is a case where you had a misinformed cashier. You are right. There policy is not specific to exclude this and many stores will accept coupons this way. It is not coupon fraud as you stated Rite Aid has had it in their policy for a while.

I had a few wonderful cashiers at Meijer who are coupon educated. Some who are not so much, they may be new and just don't know all the ins and outs.

I would just go back another time if possible Smile

RE: Meijer Coupon Policy
@Melissa

While I think it is bit over-the-top to call this fraud, I am not sure it is right. (And before anyone gets upset, know that I have done this myself before too......)

How is it "OK" to get $ off of something you are already getting for free? I can see why a cashier would view it this way.....

I get that the store is actually better off if they DO accept the coupon....they get the coupon + handling fee back. This is more than they would make from a transaction with a non-couponer, but still.....

Please clarify. 001_unsure

RE: Meijer Coupon Policy
I totally see it from your view. How is it right to take $$ off 0

I guess to try to make it simple: ONE is the store promo, just like any other sale. And one is the manufacturer promo (the coupon) So you are allowed to use one coupon per purchase (item) as long as you are meeting the terms of the coupon it does not matter what the store sale is....

If it was coupon fraud or if the store did not get reimbursed then Rite Aid would not have it in their policy as well as the b1g1 sale and b1g1 coupon= 2 items free

Many stores allow that scenario. Many stores also allow 2 coupons to be used on b1g1f also...

I suppose it is up to the store what they want to accept and what they don't. But as far as the manufacturer is concerned if you have met the terms of the coupon will thus reimburse the store.

RE: Meijer Coupon Policy
i always thought if you used a coupon for a free item that wouldnt be right, however, explaining it the way of store coupon and stacking a manufacture coupon makes it seem like my meijer has been in the wrong for years. i wont throw a fit if i dont ge my way, but i will remember this when i want to try it again.

thank you for the different point of view.

RE: Meijer Coupon Policy
Thanks for the responses. I was pretty sure it wasn't fraud to do this but I wasn't 100% sure either. I thought the sales were store promos and I could use a coupon for it. Thanks again.

Re: Meijer Coupon Policy
Just an FYI for everyone. I found that you can use Wags's RR at Meijer bc they accept them. However, I called my local Meijer (in OH) and the Systems Manager told me they do not accept them. I have learned not to trust what people tell you bc they seem to never know their own policy Smile So I went there last night and scanned a few RRs I had to pay. The cashier told me if the computer accepts it then that means its good and sure enough it did. I will call corp and have them confirm that this is okay to do and try to get it in writing. The cashier said if they didn't get money back for it the computer would have rejected it bc it is set up to not accept coupons that can't be used at Meijer.

This should be a nation wide thing and not regional. Doubling coupons can be regional but I don't see how acceptance of coupons can be. Why would the mft pay one Meijer and not the other? Know what I mean?

Meijer is only a regional store, Michigan,Ohio,Indiana,Illinois, and Kentucky. Not Nationwide. It is Meijer's Policy to accept Manufacturer's coupons. Which a Catalina Martketing Coupon is considered. The Logo of Walgreens is a mere suggestion to use it at Walgreens. An IVC From Walgreens is a Store coupon thus, not accepted under the coupon policy, and Up to the Store Director if he chooses to "Match" the price of the product after the IVC is applied.

Although each store, is using the Meijer logo and is a Meijer Store, Each store director is competing for your business. Thus the difference from store to store.

As far as the register accepting the coupon or not, because it is a valid UPC barcode, the register would take it, you could have a piece of paper, that said, "Take $1 off x product from Pillsbury because I am the coolest person ever" with the barcode 51800000765 and the register will take it because this would be a valid barcode for $1 off any product from pillsbury.

When using coupons it is your responsibility to make sure that the coupon you are using is accepted because it is legitimate, and allowed from the store. Not because a cashier who is not trained well say's that if it scans its ok.

each of the coupons on this page would "scan" http://www.cents-off.com/body_coupon_counterfeiters.cfm It does not make it right.

as long as you are using a valid manufacturers coupon then Meijer will be reimbursed after presented to the clearinghouse.

In order to succeed, your desire for success should be greater than your fear of failure.
