The Nielsen Homescan Consumer Panel focuses on measuring consumer attitudes and behavior. As a panel member, Homescan will provide you with a hand-held scanner. Every time you or members of your household shop, you'll use the scanner to scan the barcodes on all of your purchases. Then, once a week, you’ll send them your purchase information. As a reward for doing so, you'll earn gift points that are redeemable for name-brand merchandise, including electronics equipment, jewelry, household items, toys, and more! Woo hoo!

i tried to sign up with them before and i didnt get accepted. Sad

I signed up a while back and got denied. I guess I was not what they were looking for. I have a friend who has been on the waiting list. Well I decided to give it a shot and guess what? I got in!! yeah yeah doing the happy dance. I hope its all its cracked up to be Smile

Its hard to tell what they are looking for...I think it depends on your zip code.

i think it may have to do with i dont have a home phone. that is when the 'i'm sorry' popped up. Hysterical

I actually belong to the panel. I've been a member since January. It's interesting, but it is also time-consuming if you don't have a good memory. You have to know which coupons you used, the face values, was the item on sale, etc. For some stores you have to enter prices. If you buy a lot of different items and/or you use a lot of coupons (of course) it can be time consuming.

Some of the rewards are really nice but it can take a while to earn them. In the short term the payoff is almost nothing. My little boy likes to scan items and help me out, so I do it more for him now because he seems to enjoy it. People do great some really nice prizes for redeeming their points, though! Things like digital cameras, tents, iPods, etc.

If anyone has any questions, I'd be glad to answer them. Ask away!
